Most Popular Stag Destinations Revealed

design_advBristol leads UK coastal towns in stag do popularity but old favourite Amsterdam keeps the Eastern Bloc at bay.

It seems that the boys and girls intent on celebrating the end of their single lives as they enjoy their stag and hen dos are not letting the frosty temperatures of 2010 stop them from enjoying some sea and fresh air.

Bristol is one of four coastal towns making it into the coveted Designaventure Top Five UK stag do destinations, which is calculated based on sales and trends in 2010 so far. Also included in the list are seaside towns Bournemouth, Newquay and Edinburgh.

In fact, the only non-coastal town to be popular with the British stags and hens is perennial favourite Nottingham.

“Bristol is a year-round destination and as well as being close to the coast it also has a number of attractions with great bars, clubs and restaurants for visitors to enjoy,” says Marco Walker, from stag-do specialists Designaventure who compiled the report.

“However, we’re only in March so once the sun comes out the stag and hen groups will want to flock to the beaches; so we expect our UK seaside resorts to fight back by July and possibly regain the top three spots.”

It seems that despite record snowfall and flooding, the weather can’t stop Brits having a good party and this is doing its part to aid the UK’s recovery from recession with Designaventure reporting a 15% year on year rise in bookings from 2009.

Andrew Shanahan, editor of the UK’s leading men’s wedding magazine Staggered (www.iamstaggered.com): “It’s not the case that you’ll find stag and hen-dos shivering on the sands at these destinations; there are a range of activities on offer from all of these cities which can keep anyone entertained, regardless of the weather.”

Looking at stag-do destinations overseas and it’s the stag and hen-do powerhouse of Amsterdam with its famous canals, tulips and other tourist attractions that has topped the list, with Eastern Europe strongly represented with Krakow, Riga and Prague taking the 2nd to 4th spots respectively.

An interesting inclusion in the fifth spot is the Algarve – showing that sometimes, all stags and hens want is to enjoy a bit of guaranteed fun in the sun.
