Clare has over 40 years experience and can count the Queen and the Queen Mother amongst some of her high profile previous clients. She runs Silk Rose from the upstairs studio of one of Lavenham’s gorgeous cinderella style cottages, co-located with the equally talented bridal jewellery designer Moi Mathieson in the ground floor studio.

Clare prides herself on running a studio that is completely ‘open’ enabling her customers to visit and actually see their dress being made and help shape the extra special time created by a bride’s wedding preparations. Clare says, “Every client gets my undivided attention and it brings me so much joy to know that I have contributed to the happiness that goes along with this very special day in someone’s life”. A unique part of Clare’s service is to make herself available on the day of the wedding if the bride requires assistance with the preparation stages. “I love to see the bride to the door of the church so I can do a final fluff of the train, stand back and admire the beautiful bride with her father on her arm, it’s a priceless moment and the culmination of the love I put into all my dresses”.

Keeping an eye on the web around us is an important part of keeping our site relevant. One site that caught our eye a few months ago is the Weddings In Surrey directory.

Now we’ve never been big into directory listings and as a result have concentrated on a slower, more organic approach to link building. But having seen how Weddings In Surrey founder Pamela Wallin runs her business, keeping a high profile presence on the social media channels, convinced us to give her site a go. In Pam’s own words :-

“The idea for the directory came in 2007 after arranging my own wedding.  It became apparent that there was a need for a fresh and updated niche county directory that focused solely on weddings being arranged in Surrey.  A little bit more than just a directory, the aim was to offer tools and expert advice alongside a directory of the best wedding suppliers in the business.”

“Weddings in Surrey was launched in May 2008, and has been a huge success.  Weddings in Surrey has become one of the most comprehensive wedding directories in the county, featuring over 350+ wedding suppliers, and pages of advice, articles and wedding planning tools in the Plan the Day Guide.  Reaching the No. 1 spot for keywords relating to “Surrey Weddings” we attract tens of thousands of hits each and every month.”

The idea for the directory came in 2007 after arranging my own wedding.

Music to our ears! So after a simple bit of form filling, we heartily uploaded our logo and images to create an initial gallery. Then it was off to PayPal where we paid £35 for a years premium listing. Then, bingo, before we knew it Pam was on the Twitter wire to announce our live directory listing. Fantastic!!

All in all signing up was a very positive and interactive experience and we think our listing looks ace. The price seems very reasonable too. Thanks Weddings In Surrey!
