This week we take a walk up Teddington High Street to step back in time into a proper 1950′s boutique called Mela Mela.
Owner Mel Ellis is truly living a long held dream with Mela Mela. From the eye catching window display featuring cleverly arranged prom dresses and clutch bags, to the moment you step inside the shop you are transported back in time to another era.
The walls of Mela Mela are an Aladdin’s cave, adorned with meticulously arranged clothing racks and daringly colourful displays. Brightly lit cabinets are stuffed full with jewellery items of every kind, from luxurious vintage gems, tempting costume items, to hat pins and brooches.
The clothes rails are a feast for the eyes stocked with an bewildering array of 50′s cocktail dresses, prom dresses, skirts and tops. There are beautiful silk organzas, romantic roses, purple prints, huge polka dots and wonderful big bows a-plenty here.
Above eye level the shelves contain a prized collection of very chic and elegant hats that complement the array of outfits and accessories displayed below.The antique manequins used to show off the hats are equally as interesting as the hats themselfs.
